  • An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Council Tax Officer to join our Client within Local Authority based in East of England on a Remote basis.

    The main responsibilities of this Council Tax Officer role is:

  • To work as part of the Council Tax Recovery & Business Rates team dealing with all aspects relating to the recovery of Council Tax from liability order stage, and the administration and collection of National Non Domestic Rates.
  • Deal with enquiries from the public regarding all aspects of Council Tax and National Non Domestic Rating, being aware of the appropriate Council Tax & NNDR regulations and section procedures.
  • Action information provided by Council Tax payers and NNDR ratepayers, by telephone, letter e-mail or in person regarding changes to Council Tax and NNDR accounts.
  • Represent the Council at Valuation Tribunal or at Court generally in respect of summonses and liability order applications.
  • Skills required for this Council Tax Officer role

  • Civica system knowledge is a must
  • Experience in Council Tax and National Non Domestic Rating administration.
  • Experience of dealing with customers calmly and sensitively whose behaviour may be emotional, challenging, threatening and/or abusive.
  • Previous Local Government experience.
  • Knowledge of the Political and Democratic context in which the Council operates.
  • Awareness of the requirements of Data Protection.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
