The Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) Directorate at Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking to appoint two RKE Delivery Officers (1x Permanent and 1x Fixed Term Contract to 31/03/2023) to join the Team to provide post-award project support for RKE activity at the university.

About you:

This opportunity will suit a pro-active candidate with good organisational and analytical skills, along with experience in the financial administration of projects.

We welcome transferable skills. Ideally you will have a demonstrable understanding of the UK research funding landscape and knowledge of the broad operational activities that underpin successful project delivery.

The role:

We are looking for a confident and proactive candidate who will be responsible for the post-award support of a wide range of research and consultancy projects across the University.

You will work with a team of colleagues to deliver a high-quality post-award project support service for Academic and Professional Service colleagues. You will act as the main point of contact for project delivery related queries and requests, and you will support a large portfolio of projects, involving multiple internal and external partners.

You will become responsible for monitoring and managing project budgets, preparation and submission of financial claims to funders in line with funder requirements and advising on university financial policy and procedures.

This is a key role within the Directorate at a central level, and you will be expected to develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of funders’ operational and financial reporting procedures.

RKE Directorate:

The Directorate is responsible for the management and delivery of the RKE strategy. The University’s Research Centres make an impact on the world around us, and we support their research funding and the wider research environment such as impact and public engagement activities, business partnerships and collaborations across the sector and beyond.

Working here:

This is great opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team. We offer a fantastic range of benefits to employees, including a central location, which is excellent for commuters, a generous annual leave allowance (25 days, plus Christmas Closure and Bank Holidays), and a very competitive pension scheme. You will also get access to a wellbeing platform, retail discounts, travel loans (public transport), a cycle to work scheme, plus many more rewards and benefits.

Hybrid working is currently offered for this role, where you will be able to work a proportion of time on campus and a proportion remotely. We recognise the benefits and importance of an environment that supports flexible working and are open to conversations throughout the application process.

Please ensure that you include a detailed Covering Letter and CV with your application. You should be clear about how you meet each relevant criterion in the person specification and give evidence of your experience within your Covering Letter.
