We are looking for

an advanced practitioner to work within our Msk/CMAT service within the Carmarthenshire district of Hywel Dda University Health Board. The applicant will have a steroid injection qualification and a proven track record in Imaging and differential diagnosis. The role will involve working within the Orthopaedic consultant clinic and triaging referrals from primary care to Orthopaedics via our CMAT services.

Main duties of the job

They will play a key clinical leadership role in supporting the podiatry service in modernisation processes by contributing, planning, developing and evaluating the service within their area of specialism (MSK). This will include leading in aspects of audit and evaluation. This will be undertaken in collaboration with the Senior Manager for MSK Podiatry/ CMAT Services. This will include performance management. The post holder will also lead on the development and maintenance of clinical standards across the Health Board as agreed through job planning processes. This will include the development and review of competency based frameworks for podiatry practitioners working with patients in MSK.

It will also include providing skills based training within this specialty area. It is also expected that the post holder would either have a MSc post graduate qualification or be working towards with equivalent experience.

The role would demand that the candidate demonstrates Postgraduate study appropriate for delivering advanced practice in Radiology, Ultrasound, injection therapy, Orthotics and other extended Msk aspects.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Professional qualification as recognised by and registration with the HCPC
  • Degree or equivalent in qualification in Podiatric Medicine
  • Local anaesthesia certificate
  • It is also expected that the post holder would be either have a MSc post graduate qualification or be working towards with equivalent experience
  • Postgraduate study appropriate for delivering advanced practice in Radiology, Ultrasound, injection therapy, Orthotics and other extended Msk aspects
  • Desirable criteria

  • Certificate Health Education or Promotion MSc modules in podiatric medicine in a specialist area
  • Certificate in Radiology
  • Member of the Society of Podiatrists
  • Evidence of leadership courses/qualifications

  • Evidence of advanced clinical practice in area of speciality at Masters level
