Job Description Qualifications:

BDUK currently employs over 1,400 people in the UK and is responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK defence customers including E-7 AEW&C, P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, C4ISTAR Services, Through Life Support for the Chinook & Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services and Training Services.

This post is for a Manufacturing Engineer to work within the Engineering Function in Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) to support Bids and Proposals. The role will report to the Design & Production Engineering Manager, and can be based at sites including Bristol, Yeovil, Middle Wallop or Gosport, with some hybrid working options.

The successful candidate will have experience in a range of manufacturing activities including but not limited to design, production, manufacturing, supplier management, additive manufacturing, proposal development, drafting of basis of estimates (BOEs) and drafting statements of work (SOWs)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and review basis of estimates (BOEs) for new work scopes
  • Develop and review statements of work (SOWs)
  • Support bid and proposal activities across the BDUK portfolio of new business
  • Develops and implements production and tooling methodologies.
  • Participates on Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to integrate technical solutions across multiple disciplines.
  • Develops, identifies and implements conceptual designs and maintains the program architecture for build.
  • Conducts producibility and variation analyses to ensure that manufacturing process capability matches requirements.
  • Assists in providing producibility information for inclusion in project plans and helps document producibility best practices.
  • Analyzes design/build concepts to evaluate producible design/build definitions.
  • Coordinates and implements new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies and concepts.
  • Validates and ensures production readiness of solutions to complex problems.
  • Implements lean principles and technologies.
  • Desired Qualifications and experience:

  • Experience supporting proposal activity including development of BOEs and SOWs
  • Aerospace new product development and prototyping experience.
  • Experience with model based engineering implementation and work instruction creation.
  • Experience with design tools and Teamcenter PDM systems
  • Experience implementing lean principles, APQP, and PFMEA to optimize and transition prototype approaches to production processes.
  • Experience collaborating within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Work Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom.
