Principal Systems Engineer – Architecture – 18 month contract – Barrow-In-Furness – £53.81ph UMB or £41.87ph PAYE (Inside IR35)

Role description:

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to apply their subject matter expertise and domain experience by delivering systems and products to the submarine design, build and through-life support programmes to support overall project delivery and performance.

You will:

  • Understand and support the flow-down of requirements to suppliers and acceptance of their specific deliverables, ensuring it is captured and recorded appropriately.
  • Ensure design proving evidence is comprehensive, captured within the requirements management tools and has been endorsed by the appropriate level of authority.
  • Support the development of estimates for the scope of work and resources required to deliver it in order to support bids, proposal development and project planning activities from a systems engineering perspective
  • Provide technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities, including acceptance of equipment from suppliers through to system acceptance by the customer
  • Deliver design documentation generated, captured, configured and controlled in accordance with company processes
  • Provide engineering Lifecycle Management (LCM) adherence for all deliverables, Sub Contract Design Reviews and relevant input to project LCM activities.
  • What we are looking for in you:

  • Significant knowledge and expertise of Systems Engineering process and practices in the defence, maritime or closely linked industry and the correct recognition of the context of their work within the overall product.
  • Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle with experience of operating in the phase relevant to the role and awareness of the entire engineering lifecycle
  • The technical understanding of the context of their work within the overall product and platform/programme
  • A strong understanding of other related project, product, programme, domain, discipline and functional teams of submarines or equivalent external bodies
  • A strong working understanding of Product Safety and SHE
  • Security requirements: SC + ITAR

    This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct access to ITAR Material. Therefore we can only consider UK Nationals for this position.     The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.
